There are a few local villages within 5 miles which offer a local grocery shop, post office, off-licence and petrol station and are generally open 7-days a week though some days they only open half-day. In the bigger town of Tarbert, there’s also a pharmacy, banks, a co-op supermarket and a few boutique stores, as well as a butchers, grocer and the like.

Campbeltown offers a greater selection, with furniture stores, Tesco and co-op supermarkets, hardware stores etc included into the mix. Oban is the nearest ‘big’ town and is located 70 miles north (1hr 45mins). Glasgow is the nearest major City and is 100 miles (2hr 30mins)

Emergency contact details, including local Doctors, etc are provided in each cottage. However, if there is something you want to know or arrange in advance of your arrival, please feel free to contact us for assistance.

Our location on this fabulous coastline gives us great access to some of the best, freshest seafood and produce that Scotland has to offer. You’ll find a variety of locally renowned cafe’s, restaurants, hotels and pubs which offer fabulous Argyll food at a reasonable price.

Within a 5-minute drive from the estate, you’ll discover Big Jessie’s tearoom located down by the Tayinloan ferry port which is highly recommended by previous guests, not just for the food but the craic you’ll have there too. Glenbarr Abbey & nursery (10 mins) also have tearooms worthy of a visit.

At Bellochantuy, just 8 miles south and only 12 minutes by car there’s another gem – the Argyll Hotel is set on the rocks over the seafront and is a stunning location for a wee dining experience. A little further along in Machrihanish, the old Clubhouse offers lovely food. Campbeltown is 18 miles south – 20-25 mins by car and offers an array of choices including hotels, pubs, tea-rooms, take-aways and cafe’s.

Tarbert is 18 miles in the opposite direction and again offers an array of hotels, restaurants and cafe’s, mainly located around the harbourside. However, a must-see recommendation if you visit in the summer months is to dine at the Seafood Cabin at Skipness (35 mins by car) – phenomenal seafood in stunning coastal surroundings. We also suggest the Kilberry Inn (33 miles north, 45 mins by car), voted one of the best restaurants in Argyll and on your way here, the oyster bar at Loch Fyne is a must!

For those of you who would struggle without a regular supply of fast-food by a well known ‘golden arches’ chain you may be in for a disappointment – the nearest one is in Glasgow!!
